What it is
Fine Tuning is a radio repair shop in a small English town in 1952. Wirelesses come in over the counter with their owners' tickets, one with a hum and another that's gone quiet, and it's your job to take each one apart at the bench, find out what's wrong and put it right before its owner comes back for it.
Every set is a working valve superhet, and the game solves its circuit as you work on it, so the meter reads what the circuit really does and what you hear comes from the same sums. There are no buttons for the work: the knobs, the probes, the soldering iron and the chassis sliding out of its cabinet are all done by hand.
Around the bench is the whole shop: the morning paper's small ads, the counter, the shelf of waiting sets, spares ordered by post, proper shop hours, a bed in the loft, and a spoilt set of your own to restore and listen to at home.
